Significance
During five sacred days of Deepawali the house is lit rather than decorated. Lamps go along the threshold, the parapet, the stairs, at the tulsi and in the shrine, and the number is not fixed - a household lights as many as the house asks for.
This is the set sized for the whole house at once, with the wicks counted in.
How to use
1. Soak the diyas in water for a few minutes, then let them dry. 2. Fill each with mustard oil or ghee and set a wick in it. 3. Light them at dusk, beginning at the threshold.
