Why this Pujan, specifically
Geeta Press Satyanarayan Katha book, so the katha is read from the text rather than from memory.
Yellow aasan and vastram, the colours traditionally kept for this vrat.
Significance
The Satyanarayan Vrat is kept on Purnima, and on occasions a household marks - a new home, a wedding, the close of a long-held wish. The katha is read aloud in five chapters, and panchamrit is offered and then shared as prasad.
It asks for nothing elaborate. The vrat rests on keeping a promise and reading the katha with attention.
How to use
1. Lay the yellow aasan and perform the sthapana in the morning or at dusk. 2. Prepare the panchamrit from the ghee, honey, sugar and the rest set out in the vidhi insert. 3. Read the katha aloud in its five chapters, then offer the aarti and share the prasad.
